Digital readout software.
The ED2 Configuration Utility is a software package that runs on Windows 2000/XP. This program gives the user a graphical, easy to understand utility to use in configuring their ED2. Handy Configuration Wizards walk the user through setting up the ED2 in the most common ways, or the user can configure the ED2 manually for specialized applications.
The ED2 Configuration Software can also download the latest Firmware into the ED2. Current Firmware Version: 2.02
The ED2 is a flexible product, which allows the user an array of configuration options. Its display can be scaled to any unit, displayed in Degrees:Minutes:Seconds or in decimal. It can display quadrature count from an encoder or it can operate as an up-down counter of TTL pulses. It can display the count from one of its ports, or it can add or subtract the counts from two of its ports. It can also display rates in units per second, units per minute, or units per hour. Additionally, one of its ports can alternatively function as a TTL I/O port. TTL Outputs allow the user to use the ED2 to control or signal external equipment when certain user definable events occur. TTL Inputs allow the user to control ED2 functions using external buttons or signals from other devices. Finally, advanced users can completely re-map how the LED's and buttons on the faceplate are used. (This would, of course, require custom faceplates.) All of these things and more are configurable using the ED2 Configuration Utility. Once a configuration is defined, it can be downloaded to the ED2 over a serial port. It can also be saved to disk so that commonly used configurations can quickly be retrieved and downloaded to an ED2.
